Christian Alexander Fedison
American Theatre Maker
Christian Alexander Fedison is a Chicago-based playwright, director, educator, and producer from New Orleans, Louisiana, dedicated to building bold, community-driven performance experiences. He is the Founding Artistic Director of Campfire Repertory Theatre, where he champions new work and amplifies diverse voices across Chicago.
As a playwright, Christian has written original works including Love & Other Things That Kill, Elastic Mind, Vulnerable, and Wolf and Sheep. He crafts Black characters deeply informed by history and American culture, interrogating love, identity, power, and emotional survival. He has also adapted A Midsummer Night’s Dream for contemporary audiences and young performers, and written dozens of short plays for youth ages 5–14.
As a producer, he has led and supported the development of works such as The Story of Lady Li, FLUSH, Bingo Hall, M is for Medusa, At the Wake of a Dead Drag Queen, and Panth Woman. His producing work is rooted in a commitment to uplifting underrepresented voices and creating space for stories that reflect the richness and complexity of the communities he serves.
His work has been developed and presented in collaboration with organizations including Campfire Repertory Theatre, Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre, Clark Atlanta University, Southern Methodist University, Greenhouse Theatre Center, TimeLIine Theatre, The Story Theatre, Perceptions Theatre Company, Chicago Dramatists, the Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks, and the League of Chicago Theatres.
In addition to his artistic work, Christian served as a Drama Teacher and Drama Club Director at CICS Bucktown, where he designed K–8 theatre curriculum and directed full-scale student productions. His teaching emphasizes ensemble-building, creative expression, and empowering young people to find their voice through storytelling.
Christian earned his B.A. in Theatre from Clark Atlanta University and continues to expand his practice as a playwright, producer, and arts leader committed to accessible, impactful theatre rooted in community.
